Iris's Birthday!!!

Today is Iris's Birthday!!! Yay!!! She is 8 today. Here are some pictures of the birthday girl pretty early in the morning. We are having a huge party for the both of them at our house today so I'll make sure and blog pics from the party.

David's Birthday!!!

So yesterday was David's birthday and he turned 31!! We had such an amazing day. During the day while Iris was at school we watched the new Indiana Jones movie, went thrift store shopping, went to Wal-Mart and went out to lunch together. Then we went home to pick up Iris from school. After we picked up Iris from school we went to David's parent's house and had dinner and hung out with everyone. We all went to this huge cornfield maze that they have in Canutillo. It was HUGE!! And a little scary. We got lost in it for a little while, but it was so much fun. We had a blast. Then we went back to David's parent's house for cake and ice cream. It was an amazing day.

So we got our rings today!! YAY!! I didn't end up choosing any of the rings that I was originally deciding from because I saw this one and it seemed much more like me. A little more antique looking and a lot less blingy. I love it!! It feels weird being on that finger, but I'm sure I'll get used to it super fast. Wedding bells!! Yippee!!

So, big news!! I am engaged!! David and I have set a date for our wedding. December 13th. I can't wait to be Mrs. Amanda Munoz. Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Invitations will be going out soon so please email me with your addresses at Achristensen77@yahoo.com. I can't wait to see you guys!! YAY!! We will be going on our honeymoon to Las Vegas on January 2nd and will probably be there for a week. I am so excited!! This is what I have been waiting for my whole life and I never thought it would happen, but miracles do happen.

You do have a choice!!!

Why would you choose John McCain over Barack Obama??!! I have been cringing for the last 8 years every time I see George Bush on the TV. I can't stand his voice, the smug look on his face, his macho stance, his holier than thou, I'm better than all of you, pistol packing, ready to shoot attitude!! I am sure that I am not the only one that shares this view. If John McCain is elected, it will be at least another 4 years feeling this same way. I have never been into politics until recently because I just cannot sit by any longer and let what has been happening continue, without feeling like I did everything that I could to stop it!!! For the first time in my life I feel like I need to get involved.

First of all, McCain is the spitting image of George Bush and isn't going to do anything to make this country any better. Those of you who think he will are completely delusional. He runs a smear campaign and is only in this for his own ambitions which has been chronicled in his own book. Anyone who is that way is childish and should not be running this country! Obama has not said anything about John McCain until he was forced to defend himself!! He fights with facts, not by trying to paint an image of someone just to make them look bad. McCain called us a nation of whiners!!! Why would we want to elect someone who obviously thinks so "highly" of us. You may not share his views, but that is the beautiful thing about Obama, he believes that we should all have the ability to choose for ourselves!! Even God believes that way!! I don't know about you, but I don't want a President that is going to force his views upon me. McCain screwed himself when it came to getting the Women's vote and that's the only reason he chose a woman as his VP pick and you know it. If he thinks that we as women are going to vote for him just for that reason, he must think that we, women, are completely naive and utterly stupid. He is against Women's rights and Roe vs. Wade. He thinks that off shore drilling is going to solve our energy crisis. He continues to harp on the fact that he was a POW to get the sympathy vote.

Barack and his wife grew up in hard times and overcame them. They fought their way through life going to college by loans and scholarships just like many of us. McCain grew up with wealth eating from a silver spoon from the time that he was born. He was married once before and got divorced because he cheated on his first wife and has a whole other family. He now has remarried into wealth to the daughter of the family that owns the Budweiser Corporation. Was recently asked what he believes to be middle class. He responded anyone that makes less than $5,000,000 a year!! This is complete lunacy!! If this is middle class, we must be living in poverty!! He didn't even know how many houses he owns!! He had to check with his staff. Does he make any of his own decisions, or ever even speak for himself, or is he constantly checking with his staff to find out his views on things? To quote Barack Obama, "John McCain just doesn't get it!"

Do not vote for McCain out of fear. Do not vote for McCain because you feel you have no choice. Do not vote for McCain because you feel that Republicans can't vote Democratic. This election is not about McCain or Obama, IT IS ABOUT US, AND WHAT'S BEST FOR THIS COUNTRY AT THIS TIME!!! The beautiful thing about the voting process is that it is anonymous. Don't you think it's sad that McCain is counting on votes from people who feel they have no choice but to vote for him.

30th Birthday yo!!

So, today I turned 30!!

Woop woop!! A new century has begun for me and this is going to be the best one yet. I can feel it in my bones. Everything is going so good for us right now. I have had an absoultely amazing birthday this year. So, last night, Iris, David and his family threw me a big birthday bash. There was tons of food, a lot of his family came, including uncles, cousins, his Mom and Dad, of course, his sisters, his nephew and his girlfriend and her daughter, and some of our friends. We had an awesome time. The only way it could've been better is if all of you guys could've been there to celebrate with us. It made me sad to think about that. I miss you guys so much. I invited Dad, but he wasn't able to come. One of Margie's relatives was just diagnosed with Breast Cancer and all her family was in town because she had to have a mascetomy. =( I understood.

David's Mom and Aunt are amazing cooks and cooked sooo much food. There was chile con carne, spanish rice and beans, chile con queso and chips, salad, green beans, I don't really remember what all there was to be honest but it was all amazing. I was amazed at how many people showed up. A lot of David's uncles and aunts and cousins came, most of which I have only met once, and they all came to celebrate with us even though they don't really know me that well......yet. It was really just an amazing feeling. Everyone talked and laughed, and danced. We even had a pinata that was so fun. David and our friend Cristina got on the roof and held one side of the cable and his nephew, J., held the other side of the rope and were swinging it around all crazy!! I was first to go and at one point, they knocked me down with it!! I came back up swinging though. In my defense, it WAS a really big pinata! It was almost as tall as Iris.

So that was my birthday party. On my actual birthday since Dad and Margie weren't able to come to my party, they took David, Iris and me out to lunch for my birthday. He let me choose and I chose the Greenery, it's one of my favorite restaurants. Here is a picture of Iris and I at the Greenery.

So, after lunch we met some friends at the bowling alley and bowled a couple of games, that was also a blast. My arm still hurts. I won 2 out of 3 games, YAY!! Then we were going to go to music under the stars but we decided we were too beat and just stayed home and watched a movie. 10,000 BC. It was alright. It was good, I guess.
