This is why you should vote for Barack Obama!!!

You do have a choice!!!

Why would you choose John McCain over Barack Obama??!! I have been cringing for the last 8 years every time I see George Bush on the TV. I can't stand his voice, the smug look on his face, his macho stance, his holier than thou, I'm better than all of you, pistol packing, ready to shoot attitude!! I am sure that I am not the only one that shares this view. If John McCain is elected, it will be at least another 4 years feeling this same way. I have never been into politics until recently because I just cannot sit by any longer and let what has been happening continue, without feeling like I did everything that I could to stop it!!! For the first time in my life I feel like I need to get involved.

First of all, McCain is the spitting image of George Bush and isn't going to do anything to make this country any better. Those of you who think he will are completely delusional. He runs a smear campaign and is only in this for his own ambitions which has been chronicled in his own book. Anyone who is that way is childish and should not be running this country! Obama has not said anything about John McCain until he was forced to defend himself!! He fights with facts, not by trying to paint an image of someone just to make them look bad. McCain called us a nation of whiners!!! Why would we want to elect someone who obviously thinks so "highly" of us. You may not share his views, but that is the beautiful thing about Obama, he believes that we should all have the ability to choose for ourselves!! Even God believes that way!! I don't know about you, but I don't want a President that is going to force his views upon me. McCain screwed himself when it came to getting the Women's vote and that's the only reason he chose a woman as his VP pick and you know it. If he thinks that we as women are going to vote for him just for that reason, he must think that we, women, are completely naive and utterly stupid. He is against Women's rights and Roe vs. Wade. He thinks that off shore drilling is going to solve our energy crisis. He continues to harp on the fact that he was a POW to get the sympathy vote.

Barack and his wife grew up in hard times and overcame them. They fought their way through life going to college by loans and scholarships just like many of us. McCain grew up with wealth eating from a silver spoon from the time that he was born. He was married once before and got divorced because he cheated on his first wife and has a whole other family. He now has remarried into wealth to the daughter of the family that owns the Budweiser Corporation. Was recently asked what he believes to be middle class. He responded anyone that makes less than $5,000,000 a year!! This is complete lunacy!! If this is middle class, we must be living in poverty!! He didn't even know how many houses he owns!! He had to check with his staff. Does he make any of his own decisions, or ever even speak for himself, or is he constantly checking with his staff to find out his views on things? To quote Barack Obama, "John McCain just doesn't get it!"

Do not vote for McCain out of fear. Do not vote for McCain because you feel you have no choice. Do not vote for McCain because you feel that Republicans can't vote Democratic. This election is not about McCain or Obama, IT IS ABOUT US, AND WHAT'S BEST FOR THIS COUNTRY AT THIS TIME!!! The beautiful thing about the voting process is that it is anonymous. Don't you think it's sad that McCain is counting on votes from people who feel they have no choice but to vote for him.

Sincerely,

A real American,

Amanda Christensen

P.S. Here is a little bit of info on the "princess" of the Republican Party:

This is Sarah Palin...

Yesterday was John McCain's 72nd birthday. If elected, he'd be the oldest president ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for "inexperience," here's who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.Huh?Who is Sarah Palin? Here's some basic background:* She was elected Alaska 's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1* Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2* She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.3* Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4* She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5* She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6* How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7This is information the American people need to see. Please take a moment to forward this email to your friends and family. We also asked Alaska MoveOn members what the rest of us should know about their governor. The response was striking. Here's a sample:She is really just a mayor from a small town outside Anchorage who has been a governor for only 1.5 years, and has ZERO national and international experience. I shudder to think that she could be the person taking that 3AM call on the White House hotline, and the one who could potentially be charged with leading the US in the volatile international scene that exists today. —Rose M., Fairbanks, AKShe is VERY, VERY conservative, and far from perfect. She's a hunter and fisherwoman, but votes against the environment again and again. She ran on ethics reform, but is currently under investigation for several charges involving hiring and firing of state officials. She has NO experience beyond Alaska. —Christine B., Denali Park, AKAs an Alaskan and a feminist, I am beyond words at this announcement. Palin is not a feminist, and she is not the reformer she claims to be. —Karen L., Anchorage, AKAlaskans, collectively, are just as stunned as the rest of the nation. She is doing well running our State, but is totally inexperienced on the national level, and very much unequipped to run the nation, if it came to that. She is as far right as one can get, which has already been communicated on the news. In our office of thirty employees (dems, republicans, and nonpartisans), not one person feels she is ready for the V.P. position.—Sherry C., Anchorage, AKShe's vehemently anti-choice and doesn't care about protecting our natural resources, even though she has worked as a fisherman. McCain chose her to pick up the Hillary voters, but Palin is no Hillary. —Marina L., Juneau, AKI think she's far too inexperienced to be in this position. I'm all for a woman in the White House, but not one who hasn't done anything to deserve it. There are far many other women who have worked their way up and have much more experience that would have been better choices. This is a patronizing decision on John McCain's part- and insulting to females everywhere that he would assume he'll get our vote by putting "A Woman" in that position.—Jennifer M., Anchorage, AKSo Governor Palin is a staunch anti-choice religious conservative. She's a global warming denier who shares John McCain's commitment to Big Oil. And she's dramatically inexperienced. In picking Sarah Palin, John McCain has made the religious right very happy. And he's made a very dangerous decision for our country. In the next few days, many Americans will be wondering what McCain's vice-presidential choice means. Please pass this information along to your friends and family.
Thanks for all you do.–Ilyse, Noah, Justin, Karin and the rest of the team

Well, first, I am glad that you are interested in politics. It's great to be involved and do our part in voting, etc. 2nd, I just added you to my links, don't know how I overlooked that one! Third, if you think you're going to convince anyone in this family to vote for Obama, you are insane. Love you so much, but you're insane. But I say with all the love I have in my heart! :)

Okay, hope that didn't come across wrong, obviously I don't actually think you're insane:) I just mean that neither one of us is likely to convince the other, but it is interesting to talk about.

One more thing... You gave plenty of reasons why you don't like McCain, but the only reason you gave for supporting Obama is that he will provide "change" whatever that is suppose to mean, and because he and his wife grew up in "hard times" whatever that is suppose to mean. Hardly the resume for the president of the United States. I think you have been hearing enough of a "smear campaign" against McCain and not enough of what your candidate actually believes or what he will do in office.

Your post is really hard to read with the colors like they are.

Marily said...

Just so you know, I didn't have a problem reading the colors. But, if you DO want to debate, which I am all for, as long as we can be civil about it, I have to admit I am a little embarrassed to do it on my own blog. Do you not understand that Mark and I have been working with Pro-Family groups for the last three or four years to get a marriage amendment to our constitution? Do you really think I am going to change my viewpoint on this issue? I believe VERY strongly that marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman. If you'd like to discuss why I think this way that's fine, but you're not going to change it. If you think Obama has some views you can agree with, great, but it sounds to me like a bunch of mindless nonsense, he's "in favor" of this or that but not willing to take a stand for it, trying to play both sides and get everybody's vote.
And I believe God gives women the right to choose as well--they can choose whether or not to have sex! After that, there are natural consequences that may or may not follow, including pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. I am VERY surprised to hear YOU taking this side on this issue. Do you really think it's right to terminate a life? And, if it's okay to take it in the womb then why not after the baby is born? Have you ever researched the actual mechanics of how a doctor gives an abortion?! It's sickening.

Hi Amanda

I disagree with most of the things that you copied and pasted.

Here are a cople of reasons that I like Presidnet Bush.

• President Bush has nominated and appointed conservative judges who will follow the letter of the law and will not legislate from the bench.
• President Bush believes that marriage is the union between one man and one woman. He supports a Federal Marriage Amendment.
• President Bush is the most pro-life president in history.
• President Bush has signed into law the Born Alive Infants Act, Partial Birth Abortion Ban and Laci & Connor Peterson’s Law.
• President Bush has been a strong protector of religious freedom as he signed a reaffirmation of "In God We Trust" as the national motto.
• President Bush has also defended the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.
• President Bush has created a national Faith Based Initiative that is serving people in communities all across America.

These also, were copied and pasted.

Love ya
and miss you,

Wow! I read your post and your comment on Marily's post. I was surprised to read your
comments. "Gay couples are going to exist whether you like it or not. Why not give them the legal rights they deserve as fellow Americans?" There are alot of awful things in this world, and in this country, that "exist whether we like it or not". Why not make THOSE things legal as well? It brings me to tears to think about the world that would create for our children.
If nothing else, we have to fight for their future. They (those born and unborn) have the right to LIVE in the best country we can give them. All I can do is vote for those people and things that I feel will better the lives of my kids.
